Lower elevation is a bit better bet...i.e. St. George and Zion ....my advice though is to stay flexible from Moab to Jtree in January. Chase the sun and temps. Good Luck.

I've been to the Creek a few times in January. As long as it's not actively snowing (or hasn't snowed very recently since the rock can be easily damaged when wet) it should be fine. Be ready for cold nights camping though! One January I was there, there was a lot of snow on the ground and it was -3 degrees Farenheit at night. The walls were completely dry and we were climbing in short sleeves on south facing walls during the day.
