Ca. Condors at the beautiful Vermillion cliffs- there were about 8 or so circling us intermittently as we hiked to the petroglyph panels. It was cool to hear the powerful flapping of their wings above our heads. <br /> <br />Feb. 2012

The Pioneer Saloon, built in 1913, is an awesome place to visit in Southern Nevada [if you don't mind witnessing the occasional, good ol' fashioned knock down drag out bar fight; so I've heard]. It's a casual drive, only 25 miles SW of Vegas. <br /> <br />The PS houses friendly staff, a really cool bar, a wood burning stove, interesting desert folk, a pool table, and they serve food now; limited menu with items you can cook yourself, if you so choose, on their outdoor grill.(They used to only serve pickled eggs, and dry snacks before). <br /> <br />I love the Pioneer Saloon in Goodsprings, Nevada! : ) <br /> <br />Pic taken 2/22/12

Alaska trip- August 2011. <br /> <br />We had most of the trails we hiked all to ourselves in the rain, or maybe it was the bears that scared other folks away, or ate them? We did encounter loud, unnerving noises of breaking branches, and fresh bear scat in some areas. ; / That's not why I look like I'm about to jump into that icy water though. : )

Exploring Marble, and Rider Canyon. The water was freezing cold, so I was trying my best to not slip in, but to make a long story short, I slipped in, and waded through it, which was waist deep. Brrrr. ; / (in my defense, the beta we had for this section said to wade through the water) . My BF had chosen a different way above this pour-off which was sketchier, IMO. <br /> <br />2012

Happy to be watching the Annular Eclipse 2012 from Point Sublime- North Rim, GC. <br /> <br />We had the area all to ourselves, as we had hoped woohoo!....until the permitting ranger showed up. ; / He turned out to be pretty cool, and we just happened to have a spare viewing glass so he could view the amazing eclipse. <br /> <br />Funny how things turn out. We ended up camped out with the ranger that night. There's a first time for everything! He shared some interesting stories with us till the wee hours of the night.
