Questions: Can a thermo liner be molded to make more room for your calf? Will it break in over time? Have any other ladies with a size 5.5 shoe found an AT boot that fits?
My background info: My alpine ski boots are a size 22 shell. Dynafit is the only company that makes AT boots down to a 22 shell. Scarpa has a 22.5 boot, but it is still a 23 shell. All brands are too big except possibly Dynafit...it seems a little high-volume, but they shipped with flat insoles to put under the true insole and take up space.
I just got a pair of Dynafit boots off of Steep and Cheap. The shell length seems okay (a bit longer than my alpine shell), but the liner is 2-3 inches taller than my alpine boot liner. This means that it comes really far up my stubby muscular calf (I am 5'1") and it feels like it is squeezing my leg right out of the boot. I am wondering if molding the liner would make enough room for my calf. The shell height is the same as the alpine boot shell height.
Or try cutting the liner. I don't think they will break in as much as it sounds like you want them to. Have you molded them yet? I would mold them and if that did not take care of it, cut down the liner a bit in height
