Tony Bubb finishes up on 'Sidewinder' (5.10b, S). Photo by John Dubrawski, 12/03.

My Partner, John was discussing something at the base with a passerby as I hang on for deal life. When John reached the top he told me that discussion:
Stranger: "Your friend is up there in the sun in this heat?"
JD: "Yeah"
Stranger: "That's something you don't see everyday. No shirt huh? (chuckle)"
JD: "No... ?"
Str: "He's going to grease up his traverse. Where's his chalk bag?"
JD: "He doesn't carry one."
Str: (laughing again) "Well, that climb is not for everyday use." (walks away)

It was an obtuse comment, but let's just say I got the point.
