You have to put http:// at the beginning of the link, otherwise the forums assume it's a link to a page on mountain project. http:// tells it that you are going to a different website.

He Ed, is there any climbing on Picacho?

Unfortunately (or fortunately, maybe)that whole mountain is owned by a very wealthy family from Monterrey who want it to remain pristine.

This meant that we had to sneak in,which required a 6 hour uphill hike, but it was amazingly good. Perfect granite with long (3 pitch) splitter cracks.

Heh, to bad, I wonder if the wealthy family could be shown how crags can be developed in a way that maintains the pristine nature of the venue.

Kinda cool though to know there's still plenty of virgin walls out there.

Wait! There's splitter granite down there? Why didn't I know about this?

Is there really such a thing as a "developed" pristine crag? Or is my sarcasm meter set too low tonight?

Yeah, and Picacho isn't the only one. There's another stupendous granite peak about an hour north of Potrero but all the land around the "easy" approach is owned by a woman who raises fighting bulls and she doesn't want us out there. So...we had to drive another 2 hours into a different state and approach from the north which again required a 6 hour uphill hike. Again it was worth it but..when you're spoiled by the 5 minute approaches in the Potrero it isn't something you're going to do very often.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
