Got off route and had to aid through the corner roof on the first pitch yesterday. There was a green sling with oval biners hanging from the piton. I told my partner to leave it as I decided it must have been left intentionally. Since I didn't like the tat it was hanging from, I backed it up with a sling hanging from a QD I clipped to the piton. My partner cleaned my sling but forgot the quick draw.

If anyone cleans my draw and wants to get it back to me, please send me a PM; I'd be happy to buy you a pint at Southern Sun the next time I'm up that way. If not, oh well, enjoy the booty.

on a side note, last time i was there that green sling looked fine. That piton however... dont pull out on it. It definately flexed down a bit when i hung on it.

I'm confused where this corner roof is. Is it a direct line up to the wide crack, instead of traversing right on the jugs?

If by jugs you mean chicken heads on that kinda blunt arete, then its to the left. Pretty sure i wandered off route for that one.

Phil - the corner roof is directly above the point at which the climb goes over the arete toward the chicken heads. When I was at that lower point I couldn't discern the line so went up left then up right to the corner roof, clipped the sling and hand-traversed right, above the chicken heads. Oh well...

Marc - the green sling is just fine, but it's clipped to some weathered material hanging from the piton.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
