Hey I worked at the Great Outdoor Shop in Pinedale over the summers. I know they are pretty up to date in the winter as far as Wind River Range recreation. They'd love to help you out....here's their number: 307-367-2440.
My recommendation is to not ever go in there in the spring when it's wet and muddy unless you have a seriously well equipped 4WD and are ready to wait it out for days until it dries out if you get stuck. I got stuck there once and left my car, keys in it and all for who ever wanted it, and started hiking out. After a few miles on the road I got lucky and ran into an old timer in an F-250 with a big winch and he took me back there and we yanked it out. It was a wild ride getting out of there, but I did manage to make it and swore I'd never go back unless it was totally dry. Be careful.
The road to Big Sandy parking lot is not plowed past Big Sandy Ranch. The best winter route in to the Cirque is to follow the groomed snowmobile trail up Irish Canyon. Then when it hits the Big Sandy road follow that to the trailhead. I've been in to the Cirque a couple of times in the winter. Pretty damn nice. The best way is to get a hold a snowmobile and drive it to the usual summer parking lot. It's possible you could find someone in Pinedale to tow you in to there. If you ski in the whole way I'd plan on 3 days to the Cirque. 2 out.
Just talked with Sublette County Roads Dept. and they clear it all the way to the trailhead in the first part of April. Thanks for the useful info, all.
