| Hey Larry. Its just north of Deming about 40 miles, and around 4400 ft. Lots of razor blade edges, and a fairly small area. If your looking for some southern stuff check out Las Cruces, Socorro, or Carlsbad. Last Chance canyon or Sitting Bull Falls are both balmy locales. You been in the Love Muffin lately sporting hunter orange? | FLAG |

| A heads up on Sitting Bull, the cliff is north facing and will be pretty frigid in the winter, like everywhere else it is best in the fall. Last Chance you will be able to choose to climb in the sun or shade so would be a better option for the winter. | FLAG |

| True enough Lee in regards to SBF's aspect. However, Carlsbad can sport some plenty warm enough temps to enjoy the crag. Of course, I'm climbing tomorrow at a local Moab crag (Stupid White Man) and it's only hitting the high 40's, so it doesn't take much for me to feel like I'm in a heat wave. | FLAG |

| I don't mind the cold so much, if it's sunny I would agree that 40 is fine, even 30's if there is no wind, but in the shade it is a whole different story unless of course you are bouldering then it does not matter. Personally I would not plan on climbing at SBF in the winter and I'm guessing that my drive would be shorter so a lower commitment, of course Last Chance is right there so you could always head to the area and climb wherever is appropriate. SBF is great, it really is not that much of a stretch to say that the 5.12's are some of the best in the state at each grade, but there is not much there, though the bees should be really sluggish so you might be able to do more of the routes on the Rosebud Wall. At Last Chance the climbing is not as good but there is a lot more of it. | FLAG |

| I used to live in Roswell so heading down to SBF was never to risky weather wise. Speaking of those bees, can you imagine how huge their hive must be!! I wonder if anyone has tested them to see if they've become Africanized. | FLAG |
