I am sitting in my office at 10 am on a beautiful Saturday morning staring at the mountains and pondering a career change.

Anybody else hate their job right now?

At least you have the mountains outside your office window... I love my career but I need to relocate.

At least you have a window. I'm getting paid to daydream about climbing at the moment too.

With each drag of the razor you ask yourself why you piss your blood into another man’s cup. Working at the job he offered, your future is between his thumb and forefinger. And the necessary accessories, the proclamations of success you thought gave you stability provide your boss security. Your debt encourages acquiescence; the heavy mortgage makes you polite.
"Time passes in moments. Moments which, rushing past, define the path of a life, just as surely as they lead towards its end. How rarely do we stop to examine that path, to see the reasons why all things happen? To consider whether the path we take in life is our own making, or simply one into wihch we drift with eyes closed? But what if we could stop, pause to take stock of each precious moment before it passes? Might we then see the endless forks in the road that have shaped a life? And, seeing those choices, choose another path?"

I just wish that I had a job. Be careful what you ask for.

It's raining so I can't climb.
I'm on call so I can't board.
I went purse shopping with my girl.

I may at times hate the moment, but hate my job never! 41 years and it still has juice.
I have never understood how anyone stays at a job they hate.
Not as a career.

I love my job but am definitely overworked. Grading papers on a Saturday night so I can spend tomorrow hiking or climbing... I am longing for the upcoming winter break!!!

Brian, so sorry to hear you had to go shopping for purses. Gawd I hate shopping, except for climbing gear.

I don't hate my job, but I often think wistfully of the days when I lived in my truck. It is still a tempting thought to buy a van and move into it. A life with few responsibilities...

Oh crap forgot to mention. North Face had a booth in Union Square so I got photos wearing there $1500 expedition suit with an Everst backdrop. Cheesy, but making the best of it. Would post but on the iPhone. Any beta on posting pics to MP from an iPhone? Can't seem to figure that one out.

I would have responded to this yesterday but I was out climbing.

Even if you have to work on a Saturday, at least you have a good view. Working on the weekends does suck, but hopefully you're paid well at whatever you're doing, or there is good benefits. If you aren't happy and you don't see being happy there in the future, then find something else.

If you have odd days off, try to find partners who can climb mid week or whatever.

While I have been climbing my ass off lately, I just lost my job and don't have a single thing on the horizon. And people to get gifts for.

So I guess what I'm saying is that there can be good and bad in everything. If you have your health and a job be thankful, thousands don't.

I love my job! (Climbing Instructor) but wish I got paid more to go on bigger trips and not have to worry about the expenditures of those trips.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
