Anyone have an opinion on Rambo vs. G20. Lost one of my Ramobo's and now have to get a new pair. If I liked the Ramobo's, are the G20 a good replacement? Many thanks for any advice.

From what I can tell the G20's are a copy of the Darts but more expensive. The rambo's were great, but if your looking for a new set of pons, id highly recommend the M10's, or Cyborgs for verticals. Ive used a ton of different crampons, and now just use the M10's primarily, they rock on WI and switch to monos on mixed.

Have never used the G20's and only tried the rambo IV on my boots a few years ago, but noticed this year's G20 is different from last year's -

Most US retailer pics of the G20 show last year's model, which looks a lot like the petzl dart .. except for Rock and Snow .

btw I wonder if we are going to see the G22 imported to the US anytime soon -

Looks a lot like the dartwin !

I would go for the g20s especially if you mixed climb. they will be more expensive to replace the points but they look way lighter and more like the petzl darts which seem to be where its at for crampons.

Hey Julian

What model rambo did ya loose? Ive got some gen#3 s and Neptunes has a demo set of the comps for around 100 bucks there in good shape

If you just need one and its a gen 3 Rambo I'll give ya one of my spares when I get back to the springs next week (Im at work in Nevada at the mine right now)Or like I said call Neptunes and see if thay still have the comps

I believe Bill at Ouray mtn sports has parts if not the Mountaineer in NY has replacement front n secondary points for both model grivels.

Im sportin the Petzl darts this year and sofar have been rather pleased with them, from what ive seen the G20 is kinda like the light weight verson of the Rambo comp which is a great crampon IMHO although I went with the Rambo #3/Darts because of the extra points for the downhill slog.

Hey Roger,

Hope you are doing well. I had the Rambo 4's, which I loved. Thanks to everyone for all of the advice. Still got some 3's, but really liked the anti-bot plate on the 4's. Found a good deal on the G20's and decided to try a pair. Hope they are sturdy enough; they look tiny. Thanks again for the offer.

Very nice, didn't notice there was a new model out, I might just drop some bux on them as well.

It looks like they did away with the replacement front points and made the whole unit one part and took away the OEM antibot for the front. It would be interesting to find out why they choose to go with a tiny horizontal spike next to the vertical front point. My guess would be to add stability in ice?

If the anti-bot matters don't bother with the M10. Awesome crampon, WORST latex antibot EVER. You cut up you hands putting them on, and they start ripping the 1st season. BUT they still cost $35 bucks which is almost the price of BD's when the came seperate.

I ended selling the crampons because of it, even though I loved them. Didn't want to deal with making my own and having to make sure they didn't break when least needed. Get it together Petzl!! Why do only the M10's get the shaft?

I've been extremely pleased with the Rambo IVs for ice and mixed though obviously not as light as the G-20. I think the extra, short spike on the new 20 is actually for stability when stemming on rock. That seems to be what the small tertiary point on the Rambo IVs is for. It works well for that purpose even if that wasn't the intent anyway.

I got these crampons, but on mine there is no such thing (like it looks on the picture above).
I can't tell you anything about how it performs yet; still waiting for ice.
