Found a sling, two beaners and a locker at the top of the golden cliff on sunday, the route was the crack just to the right of deck chairs. I was told there was a class on this route for most of the day, assuming it was left behind by them. identify the gear, and i'll trade you for a beer..

Do you mean 'biners or beaners? because one is a metal loop with a spring-loaded gate and the other is a borderline racial slur used to describe Mexican people. If it's the latter, you should be careful, because trading beer for people is still probably considered kidnapping.

I sent you a message - yes, we left the gear there by mistake.

hey on a side note, can anyone point me in direction of some free camping nearby? I am heading down for a night and a day and need a place to pitch a tent

matt davies: 5 stars!

Phil Koneman: cool, let me know when you're in town..

mattnoreville: you could pitch a tent in my backyard, but for a more wilderness-like experience I'd go up on one of the mesas (the south is particularly nice :)

Mexican-Americans: sorry about the racial slur, no pun was intended, but i'm glad the good ol' mp community took care of that one in a gracious and humorous fashion, as usual ... sniff.. i love you guys..

so,if i'm understanding this right, just pitch tent on top of the north or south, south is better? My car cool in the lot I assume

sooo, i'm not sure most of this is totally legal, consider it gorilla camping..

there's no designated parking lot for the south mesa. the trailhead is at the end of 18th street, but parking there overnight is probably not a good idea. There is a big parking lot for the coors tours, between 13th and 14th on the east side of ford. the north mesa has a fancy new parking area, at the new north table mountain park. the main climbers parking area has a gate that supposedly closes every night at dusk (but i've never seen it closed).

there's a pay campground by the river, at the end of 10th street, it's mostly for rv's, but there are a couple tent sites. golden gate canyon state park has lots of good camping, if you have a state park pass. i've slept at the bouldering area in morrison before, kind rocky though.. there's nice overpass near the intersection of 6, 58, and 93, but noise would be an issue if you're a light sleeper.

and, as a final note, a tent is probably not needed, the last few nights have been so nice that i think your basic bedroll should suffice. have fun!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
