So you carry cast iron skillets, pots, pans, 2 burner stove,, loads like Norman Clyde carried through the Cascades a hundred years ago! Mmmm, bacon and Brawndo for breakfast! Where DO you get Brawndo?

So I agree that I am more willing to carry booze then food into the Bugs... as a Bugs vet, the parties you can have there are outrageous!

I also second the aluminum poach tuna and chicken approach, and the glacier-cooler trick. You can keep things fresh, you have tons of ice in the Bugs... :-) And the sauce+rice/noodle+poach-meat works really well especially with some whisky or vodka/powder-drink mix to wash it down.

I also second the walk down and drive to Radium on your rest day. The walk down is fast! Eat at Smitty's in town, soak in the springs, sleep at a cheap hotel and you will find that after a week in the Bugs, the walk back up with a lite pack is easy and fast and having a restock on the booze locker is key for 2nd week happiness!!!

Yeah they can taste good. But what is the one thing you do not want 100,000 soldiers doing out in the field during combat?
Eat one of those and don't shit for a week.

I think you can get Brawndo at the time machine, by the un.

MREs are commonly called Meals Refusing to Exit or Meals Ready to Exit for obvious reasons. It's kinda enjoyable opening them because the contents are always a surprise besides the entree, though.

I personally can't stand Backpacker's Pantry (except for the chicken and dumplings... which is DELICIOUS). I prefer Mountain House if I have to eat the dehydrated stuff. Beware... the chicken and dumplings is messy, and a little tricky to cook if you are using a Jetboil stove with the standard pot that it comes with.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
