Headed to Acadia in a couple of weeks but don't have a guidebook yet. The Jeff Butterfield guide seems to be out of print and unavailable. Anybody have some insight into the quality of this guide: Rock Climbing in Acadia National Park: A Pocket Guide by Pete Warner?
I picked up a copy just last week at Cadillac Mountain Sports in Bar Harbor. Go to the "big" store, not the little store. I was confused at first as there are two in Baaa Haaaba.

I live only 40 minutes from the mountaineer, (mentioned above) I could run up there and verify if they have a copy or not. Or you could call them they are usually quite helpful.
The pocket guide may be a bit lacking/out dated, but would get you by if you can't find the full book. Cadillac probably some copies of Butterfield's guide in ellsworth/bar harbor, but rumor is it is out of print.
Luckily, there are generally people around the crags this time of year to ask if you can't seem to find the route.
Good luck! And have fun in Acadia, this is just starting to get into the best season to climb!
I'm also heading to Acadia and looking for a touch of beta. Do any of the trad / TR routes have bolted anchors or do you need build anchors? Anything to anchor to or is a rack required?
thanks,
Nick

Nick, at Otter Cliffs, there are big steel staples above some of the routes, you can also sling some boulders with long webbing. Some routes are gear anchors... Inland routes can only be set by leading, so you'll need gear anyway.
