Is it possible to setup a forum etc. strictly for the "what should I buy threads"? That way instead of doing a search etc. new folks looking for that info can just click on a link.

Not to be a party pooper, but if I see one more thread in the same week asking "what should I buy" I'm gonna scream! I'd like to see new climbers take .002% initiative, but since that won't happen maybe we can make it even easier.

Just a thought instead of 30 people posting the exact same thing to the same questions all the time. Not that we have anything better to talk about, but it's getting redundant.

I suppose a separate forum could be created, but I think either of the existing "Climbing Gear Discussion" or "Climbing Gear Reviews" forums would serve this purpose. Either way, it's a moot point; people are going to continue ignoring prior threads and post new "what should I buy" topics, and there's nothing you can do to force them to stop.

Honestly, I've never really understood why people get worked up about other people posting repeat questions instead of doing a search. It's not like you have read through any topic you find annoying in order to get to the ones that actually interest you. If something makes you want to scream, why read it?

If it wouldn't be too much trouble, could you also start a section that requests things, items, & whatnot to get Scott for the holidays.

I believe that is a long standing internet tradition, there is no need for reasoning that is just how its always been done.

I would like a pony...but can you tell me what type of pony to get?? :o)

In my defense I work in a CSR style field so I deal with people that can't wipe their own asses all day. It admittedly drives me nuts...And I think the threads might be something different, so I look and nope...

But I guess that's what makes people different...some people put work into things and some don't. I guess there's a place for all of us!

Now where the hell's my pony?!?!?
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
