This is not Egg-zillaration. The Egg-zillaration is on the left skyline of the formation, starting out of the chimney/gully & passes 5 bolts to the anchors.
The route going up the center of the picture is an old chossy toprope we called "walking On Eggshells". I have no idea who bolted it but is badly flawed because the bolts do not follow the line of climbing, which is to the left of the bolts.
JWong, The route you have referred to is, as JJ Brunner indicated, a 5.11a. The crux lies just above the climber in the photo. A popular sequence goes left at this point, and back to a 4th bolt, above the bulge. Once past the bulge there are 4 more bolts leading to a bolted anchor, not equipped for lowering. Hope that beta helps you.
ps. Egg-zillaration (5.11a) - 5 bolts, stems up the chimney/gulley on the RIGHT skyline of The Egg, with Walking on Eggshells (rumored to have been bolted by Graham Doe) following the sun/shadow line up the NE side.
Appreciate the info. My buddy tried it a while back and he's a low 10 climber, but we thought it just looked cool. He'll be psyched to hear about this.
And thanks for all the work you've been putting in. Looking forward to going back there to try some of the new stuff.
THE EGG. The route Exhilaration goes right up the middle of this rock, just left of the center as pictured here. Easy to find when you're on the ground. Photo by D. Blattel, 2010.
