Haven't been up there in years but there used to be a few places to camp under the radar for awhile. Did the Olympics coming to town ruin one of the last good places to be a dirt bagger? Any thoughts?

As of last summer, stealth camping was very easy if you kept a low profile and knew where to go. Be smart and be considerate, and you should be able to work it out. The effects of Olympic preparations on the climber scene were minimal. Also, if the dirtbagging isn't your thing, the campground is a pretty sweet place too. Its worth the money for short stays; dirtbagging is a bit more of a hassle.
Yeah I have stayed at the campground in the past and it was great but from what I have heard they have cut out people being able to stay there for extended periods of time and are limiting the number of campers per site now. This time around I'm going to be up there for a few months and have a truck camper so the campground isn't ideal. Plus part of dirt bagging it is stretching the trip by stretching the dollar!
There is a decent pullout on Mamquam FSR below the Squaw. Wouldnt want to stay there forever though. I have spent multiple days sleepign in the Cacodeamon Cave and under boulders below Neat and Cool.... bringing crash pads, or finding old loner pads in the boulders to sleep on helps, even if you don't plan to boulder.
Depending on how long it's been for you, there have been some impressive changes/developments to Squamish over the past 10 years or so...it's still AWESOME in so many ways, but it does seem that crime has gone up, and climbers/dirtbaggers are often a target.
The Campground IS still dreamy (now, with a two week limit that can easily be bypassed), but for the ultimate dirtbag, there remains The Spit!
