"I mean, I figured three ropes is better than one rope, right? So we cut it up. Maybe if I had four ropes I wouldn't have had to be rescued. What's 75 divided by four?"

Idiots, if they had just multiplied them together they'd have had almost three miles of rope!

What can you even do with a 25' section of rope? Safely belay someone up a 12.5 foot climb?

All of those great ideas would result in you being stranded on a cliff waiting to be rescued! I guess maybe they had their priorities mixed up... Or maybe they had 3 disobedient women to tie up?

I sounds like these people bit off more than they can chew. I hope everyone was safe and not injured!

Perhaps these young fellows were simply trying to have a good time and supposed that they could find their way upon a mountain with simple tools gathered easily from various stores and without resorting to 'learning' how to climb.

Wow I'm truly amazed.... they should be charged for the rescue due to pure stupidity.

Jasmine Kall wrote:Takes more then 25 feet of rope to tie me up! JK! That is absolutely inappropriate to say in a male dominated forum. You're killin me here, seriously. Andrew James C wrote:Wow I'm truly amazed.... they should be charged for the rescue due to pure stupidity. I disagree. If these guys get charged, then it will discourage other dumb asses with no experience from getting themselves in way over their heads with rudimentary tools and then hoping a cell phone and competent rescuers will solve their problems. I mean, come on, where's the adventure? This is 'merica, home of the free to do whatever we want, land of the way too brave.

Perhaps these young adventurers didn't realize the amount of danger they were putting themselves into. One must assume that after such a frightening experience they will be much more cautious. This may even be a chance for some quiet introspection on the part of the rescuees.

These people aren't climbers and it makes the community look bad when the media refers to them as "climbers"

Perhaps if we cut these young fellows some slack we might find that their transgressions are not quite as profound as they initially appear?
