Has anyone been to Joe's or Maple lately? I'm wondering how the conditions are for either.

I'm betting the snow and ice make the bouldering and sport climbing very difficult.

as of wednesday 12/30 the ice is coming in and thin. we climbed the dagger and ended up having to tie off stubbies (very puckering). a party walked by us and went on up to cobble cruncher which looked a bit thicker, but with a very thin looking top.
the only ice along the road that was in was roadside couloir. everthing else is still forming, running man's steep lower curtain had not yet formed.
i would think that given the new snow and the sunny weather that the season should be going pretty strong in the next couple of weeks.

my schedule is pretty open, so if you are thinking of coming down to maple. hit me up and i'll send you an update.

holmes, thanks for the update. jason thomas you need ice on the boulder problems so you'll actually have a challenge. otherwise you crush too easily.

Joes for spurt climbing? Hah! That's like going to Indian Creek for the bouldering. (Which, by the way, is excellent)

Anybody been to Joe's lately? Any suggestions about avalanche danger? How does it compare to the Wasatch?

Just looking for beta -- I'm headed down there this weekend.

I was in Joe's Valley on Saturday. It has lots of snow and lots of ice to climb. I imagine that will start to change rapidly once we get a couple weeks into March.
