Clipping the anchor and then running out 40ft for a photo op is poor form. I'm sure he has the route wired, but that is not the point.

Right on. The dude is reckless and just showing off. Total BS. I would never climb with anyone that thinks being super solid and running it way out is cool. It's not people. Someone is going to get hurt or worse! I sure hope that belayer is using a tiblock or something.
There oughta be a law! This picture is the height of irresponsibility and should be taken down. I sure hope that belayer is certified- can't see her card from this angle.
Jesus. Why does everybody have to get angry? I was just making an observation. Kudos to the man for free soloing Astroman a lot. He could still make a mistake and die. As for everyone else, chill out for crying out loud, it doesn't matter.
It's quite a run out but the truth is the climbing is rock solid to that point. The stem is the rest before the real business begins. I always tried to get a rest there before venturing off into a couple of inch and a quarter moves then fall into the lay back for ten or fifteen feet. I did however always plug a couple of 2.5" friends in that lower section!
what the heck is the point of having all that gear if you aint gunna use it... gunna get killed being stupid.. get a cramp hope you can set a solid piece

Yeah, and he is an older guy too. What if he strokes out or has a seizure or something?? What then? The old guy will probably die and the belayer will need a rescue. Bad deal all the way around. PUT IN SOME PRO MAN!!!
