trying to make MP not lame...

So, in my opinion, MP has gotten lame over the last few days with all the bolt ethic poo-slinging, and highball soap boxing.

So, to try and make it not lame, I'm going to start a list of things I like about climbing and and climbers.

1. being outside.
2. the send
3. the drinking afterwards
4. traveling
5. the independence of the most climbers
6. laughing about all the time and energy people put into our silly rope play.

Keep it going...

Yore attempt at not being lame is pretty lame.

My favorite part of climbing is sitting at home and spraying about it on the internets.

I think you meant try to make the Forums not lame.

1. If you don't like what people come up with, then come up with some engaging topics on your own.

By far, the highest viewed and most discussed forum topics by the greatest diverse user base are accidents in the Boulder area. So go out there and give us a good one!!

Kidding

2. If you don't find a given topic interesting and don't wanna offer input, then move on. (I realize that it is indeed difficult to pull away from the computer screen when your head is being strapped down -- we try to accommodate, but we're not perfect)

3. I don't know how anyone cannot find some of my prose, the most classic wit on the planet.

4. Tom Hanson dressed as a female cat on Halloween. How cool is that??

Challenging to believe I know, but it can happen.

I'll add #7 for you: the stories of all the crazy, dumb or otherwise things that everyone does. In my mind MP's an extension of the post-climb party, where everything's both funnier and more serious. Plus, the drinking.

dont listen to all these people talking about how YOU are the lame one. I respect your initiative in trying to start a forum that is not talking shit or preaching ethics.

Here are some of the things I love about climbing

1. the risk involved creates a mental focus that is hard to find elsewhere

2. Solitude and beauty seen from a birds eye view

3. Quiet

4. Friendships that come from trusting a belayer with your life all day long

5. Making fun of how we all take it way too seriously

Cheers!

Perhaps the distinguished senator could revive this......

I have to say this is one thing that I have always been surprised doesn't exist more on this site. There has to be hundreds/thousands of people doing shit here that would blow anyone's mind.

I think part of it is due to that people upload their adventures/trip reports into the specific climbs in the database and not really delve into it as much as other sports.

For example of freaking amazing trip reports I have found these over the years:
tetongravity.com/forums/sho…
tetongravity.com/forums/sho…
tetongravity.com/forums/sho…

the list could go on...

AGREED!!!

Whats lame is trying to dictate to the rest of us what you see as acceptable posts.

Andy: Thanks for linking those trip reports. I've only gotten through the first one so far. Great stuff!

What would really make this site cool

a Snuffleupagus.

Many have their own Snuffleupagus; but this site has no Snuffleupagus. Why no Snuffleupagus mp.com? Have you seen Mr Snuffleupagus?? Please return Snuffleupagus to where he belongs.

MP forums are not nearly as lame as Supertopo. Used to post over there a bit, but generally speaking, it's a bunch of geriatrics whining about bolts and talking about how bad-ass they were back in the day (edit: and many of them were/are still badass and have my respect). The only good thing about the Taco used to be the opportunity to converse with the likes of Bachar (RIP), but now that he and others are gone I see little point. Plus, like half of the posters there admittedly don't climb or barely ever climb. OK rant over.
