Red Barrel Cactus - there's loads of them up on Queen Mountain.

sweet! These things were weird. This one was probably eight inches high, and we saw one that was probably around four feet.

Big horn sheep bust open large barrel cacti in desert heat during the summer for water. Pretty cool.

It's a Ferocactus cylindraceus. Commonly called California Barrel, Cliff Barrel, Compass Barrel, Compass Cactus, Desert Barrel, Golden-Spined Barrel, Spiny Barrel Cactus and Red Barrel.
