Grivel is no longer distributing to the US
clicky link

I have to admit I liked the crampons I borrowed was even considering buying a set, but I had second thoughts since they aren't US owned or made...

Very unfortunate. Grivel makes quality products, I hope the European market keeps them alive. True pioneers of mountaineering equipment.

Those babies can strap over tennies or boots.

REI wouldn't let me borrow(rent) them once until I came up with a shoe they were happy with. I had some plastics from a friend and got out of the store but they went up Rainier.., Cotapaxi, and Baker on a stiff leather pair of lace ups.

See ya Grivel. Sad.

yeah, couple weeks ago I just bought a new pair of Rambo 4's for this winter, then found out I can't get any spare replacement front or heel points anywhere. No wonder they were on sale. They sure fit nice and eats ice like blender blades do.

There are at least a couple of large retailers in direct talks with Grivel about servicing the NA market. Their crampons are popular enough that someone will pick them up. OR you can always order from the EU for a little more shipping cost and wait.

Retailers to contact for replacement parts (while supplies last).
Some other folks are going to be distributing tho. More on that if I can find the info.

It may seem disheartening, but you can get Grivel products here in the states. I just bought a new pair of G-14's with spare front points from mountaineer.com/. Also I have a set of Taakoon tools, they have spare picks for these. I don't think it's going to be as big an issue as people are making it out to be. I talked to those fellows at mountaineer and they informed me they are still getting Grivel stuff.

In a recent thread it was pointed out that there are retailers that now order directly from Grivel. The list is on the Grivel site. (Follow "US & Canadian climbers please click here.")

Sorry didn't see the other post. From the website, "while supplies last", I assumed you guys would be rushing to get new crampons. But, good to here that a few shops here in the US will continue to stock their products.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
