Sunset at Stetinden "Base Camp," the parking lot at the trailhead; 3rd August 2007...about 11pm! I awoke at 2:30am and could not get back to sleep, so with 3 1/2 hrs. of rest, headed out on a twelve hour solo adventure. I did not need a headlamp at any time.
Birch Glade on the trail leading to the Stetinden Route. Birches dominate the woods around the mountain, becoming shorter and increasingly gnarled as one ascends, until finally they fall away below, unable to maintain a foothold in the cold, unstable soil close to the mountain.

View from the scree slope just below Hall's Fortopp ridge.
I met the guided groups coming up as I descended this loose section of switchbacks.
Out of view to the right of the lake in the photo's lower left is the "gear-up" rock, a small knob where climbers prep for technical terrain and scope out the approach to specific routes.
