Does this photo look like the start of this route? Ken Black, affectionately known as Ken The Psycho, trying for the Brownian Motion second ascent, January 1985. Note his right foot in a distinctive slopey dish, just right of the crack system, somewhat crucial to upward progress, as I recall.

2014 EDIT: Whoops, this was 1983, not 1985, my bad.

This is the start of the route Brown and Serve posted here, seems like easy 5.11 for a short bit at the start.

First ascent is probably me. I led this, Jan 1983, with Steve Unsch. We assumed it was a first ascent. I told Ken Black that evening, round the fire, and next day Ken decided he wanted to do the second ascent, and we all wandered over and I took this photo. He was being belayed by a Canadian guy.

So, FA: Steve Bartlett, Steve Unsch, Jan 1983.
