What's up with the new pay-pass permit to the 420's? Definitely very new....I was wodnering where we're supposed to get these passes? Did NFS set this up? Or is this the pissed off land owners response? Confused.....

Could you explain what you mean by a pay-pass? If you now need to pay to climb up there...that really sucks. I beleive the boulders, except for the boulders you are not supposed to climb on, are on national forest land, so it should be free.

Yeah, you do have to pay to get into the 420s now. but i dont know if it's a day pass, or month pass, or what. I don't even know where you're supposed to pay. Just trying to find out if anybody else really knows much about this..... it's pretty new....

Villein,

All users of several Poudre Canyon bouldering areas, such as the 420s and adjacent crags, Hatchery Boulders and Boneyard are now required to carry a Colorado Habitat Stamp when visiting. Managed by the Division of Wildlife (DOW), these crags are designated State Wildlife Areas or State Fish Units, which are dedicated to preserving habitat for Colorado’s diverse wildlife species.

Parvin Lake, Dowdy Lake and West Lake near Red Feather Lakes also fall within this category as well. Habitat Stamps are valid for individuals only and may not be transferred or used to cover multiple people. *See note below for additional restrictions.

The DOW created the Habitat Stamp program in 2006 as a way of generating revenue to preserve and enhance wildlife habitat throughout Colorado. Since then, they have used the funds to purchase and enhance a number of properties statewide.

Habitat Stamps may be purchased in conjunction with hunting or fishing licenses or individually for $10.25 (which includes the Search and Rescue fee) at any location licenses are sold. Stamps are valid through year of purchase. A Lifetime stamp may be purchased for $200.25. You may also purchase them through the DOW website at the link below. Stamps are not required for youth 18 and under, seniors 65 and over, individuals with mobility impairment and a few other specific cases. Visit the DOW website for further details.

  • Additional restrictions to SWA and SFU areas:
420’s – No Camping. No paintball
Hatchery & Boneyard – No dogs permitted. No Camping.
Parvin Lake – Visitors must check in and out at entrance kiosk

Thanks cameron! I knew you'd have a little info. Cool, so anybody climbing up there needs a wilderness stamp eh?

I'm guessing I'll find this at the fort collins jax. Thanks again.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
