Didn't this same act just become a problem in Joshua Tree at Barker Dam? The NPS restricted access to the area. Really lame!

Benjamin-This is an ancient ancestral Puebloan petroglyph that is extremely old. i would never deface rock like this, just a cool petroglyph I stumbled upon in Utah in the middle of nowhere. It was in an awesome spot that you could not miss due to the topography. Petroglyphs like this are extremely common in SE Utah and western Colorado, I just have never seen this design before.
