It is my hope that anyone that may visit this or any other archaeologic area consider their impact upon such fragile remnants. It may not seem like a big deal but touching, sitting on and walking around in such areas can have major detrimental impacts. Amazing site.
A handful of ancient Salado ruins exist in the Sierra Ancha. Here I sit in the doorway to an airy rock "porch" off a multi-story cliff dwelling. Inside, 700 year old wooden beams still cross the roof in some places and a few other artifacts remain unpilfered.
The hike is strenuous and the route finding somewhat difficult to access this remote gem. The Salado people weren't kidding around when they decided to build this thing.
