Forum posts on homepage are different

I noticed that the forum posts that display on the homepage may be slightly different if you are logged-in or not logged-in. This especially seems to be true especially with new forum posts.

Based on prior experience, I was thinking that might also occur, based on browser... however, my recent test doesn't show any difference between IE and FF.

Is this by design, or a 'feature'?

Edit to add: If you click [ see all recent posts ], the results are the same (logged in or not) and the most recent posts are always displayed (whereas the homepage may not show the most recent posts -- regardless of if you are logged in or not).

Very keen observation!

Homepages are cached, and quite a few different versions are cached depending upon your Favorite Areas.

When you are logged in, you might see one cached version, and when we are logged out, you see a different cached one.

They are only cached for 60 minutes, but they will always be somewhat different since they are built "on demand" when they expire from the cache.

Hope this makes sense!

I assume you're referring to webserver cache. That makes sense.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
