Hello,

Where is a cheap place to stay at in Ouray during the ice climbing season? Would rather not camp.

Thank you,

Dale

The Comfort Inn is always nice--breakfast bar, cable, discounts for AAA, AARP, and Ice Park members. . .

The Victorian inn is always sweet. Hot tubs. Nice breakfast.
Walking distance to the park.
If you plan on giong during the Fest I would act soon.

Dale,

I stayed here last year, and highly recommend for the $. Cheap (ice climbers and AAA members get a discount off the already low price of $38 for 2 people), stand-alone small cabins w/ centralized bathrooms, pets allowed, hot tub (that isn't open very late). You bring your own bedding to throw down on the mattresses. As a bonus, their website also has a picture of a figure dry-tooling on their cabins:

Inside one of the ouray riverside inn cabins. Cozy, but cheap and climber friendly. Bunk beds not shown.

Note: Bunk beds not shown in picture

Considering youll be climing in the park youll end up becoming an Ice Park member. With that membership you also get discounts on lodging and food in select resturaunts.
The ouray lodging site will have places that offer discounts.
I think the victorian inn is 20% off
There hot tubs stay open later and typically are a great time :)
I cannot wait till the ice fest!!!!!!!!

I liked the Box Canyon Lodge.

Its certainly nice to be within walking distance to the Park and downtown restaurants but you can't beat the price of the riverside cabins. I end up mixing it up, going cheap at times and others, splurging on something nicer. it helps to bring more friends to split the cost.
Alpenglow also has some nice rental units

Orvis Hot Springs. Just down the road 8 miles in Ridgway.

O.K., this might be a shameless plug but check it out: vrbo.com/89633. It's managed by the Vic and there is a 20% discount for Ice Park members, so it's an o.k. deal if you have a posse.

Thank you for all the input.

Ouray Victorian Inn used to rent out this house, 403 2nd St. If it were available, it's nice. There were also some nice, gray, tall condos available for rental next to the public hot springs for larger groups. One was 4 stories tall. Some places get inexpensive when the denominator grows.

Can you give me the names of some places for lodging that are within walking distance of the ice park? I've never been so I don't know where the park is either...thanks!
