When I did Lone Eagle I was fortunate enough to see a moose and her 2 calves. We kept our distance and just watched while they ate. Another time I saw a moose casually walking around the parking lot at Monarch Lake. There was a little fox running around between its legs. The moose paid no attention to us. I've had really good luck spotting moose up that way but never wth a rack this big. Pretty.

Crack o' dawn start at Monarch Lake. I bumped into this fellow. Lucky there was a boulder to climb, or he would have tried to kill me. He made angry noises and stomped his hooves. I ran up to Crater Lake, but the rain forced me down. Still a nice run. 3 hours car to car.
