Is that Dan Hare belaying?

God no! Dan would avoid us stinky high school boys like the plague when we wandered into the Boulder Mountaineer to shoplift. Actually now that I think about it maybe he did us a favor by ignoring us as I still have that "free" set of hexes.

I seem to remember the guy belaying was a tourist visiting Colorado, and he had big ass mountaineering boots on. We taught him to belay so I could take photos of Chuck stealing Achey's "project." (stealing for no good reason has become a theme of this post) I have no idea who was first to free this thing though and in the end who gives a rat's ass.

What route is this? I looks sweet!

It's The Campaigner, 5.12b. Boulder Climbs North says, "FA: Ken Duncan, 1970s or Jeff Achey, 1980, (uncertain)."

Amazingly, this route isn't on Mountain Project yet.

Rich,

Thanks for the info. Where is it located on Castle Rock?

It's just right of the practice roof. In fact it's the right edge of it.

Is that a chalk bag? Or is that escaping from his boxer shorts?

Does anyone have any route beta for this campaigner? I tried the route the other day and got a little spanked. Besides the strength of the hulk and the fingers of my 15 month old daughter, what the hell is up with the initial transition through the pitons? Wow what a sweet, hard, crazy, little crack. Come on 12b? It's like a Clear Creek 14b.

This line is all goodness, my friends!!! If it looks hard to you from the ground, then most likely it's going to be harder than that when you get into it!! Fun, man!! A must do!!
