Description Suggest change

Steamboat Springs is well-known for awesome powder, in particular, tree skiing and home to some of the best Nordic ski competitors in the U.S. It is not exactly a destination area for ice climbs. However, there are at least 2 ice climbs in the area. As a result, crowding does occur, but perhaps if locals add more information, the crowds may get spread out. One is a backcountry climb up near the pass...most common name to be added here...and the other is Fish Creek Falls, WI3. However, other ice probably forms in the area.

Getting There Suggest change

Steamboat Springs is located in the NW part of the state. From the east, it is probably best accessed via I-70 to Silverthorne, then N on CO Hwy 9 to Kremmling, then US 40 over Rabbit Ears Pass to Steamboat. From the W, US 40 is probably accessed via CO Hwy 131 at Wolcott, or CO Hwy 13 at Rifle through Craig, or CO Hwy 139 to Rangely to CO Hwy 64 to Dinosaur. Then you head E to Steamboat Springs.
