Tyler Bowser on roadside distraction 5.10a

Description

Near the town of Red River, the routes on these crags are well protected and on vertical to low angle hard granite. There is also a developing bouldering area located above the Terrace Towers Lodge in the West part of town. The routes were put up by a Red River local, Tyler Bowser.

See the guidebook Taos Rock for further details on this area.

Getting There

On a map, find the town of Red River, west of Questa on highway 38. See individual crag directions for specifics.

NOTE: GPS Coordinates are to the town of Red River.

I presume one could go straight up the face avoiding the corner but it would be much more difficult and unprotected. A few more thin moves take you up past a couple more bolts and then into positive, fun climbing up to the roof. Pull the roof using big holds and climb past a couple more bolts to an anchor. The area to the right of roadside distraction appears to be the scene of someone's epic adventure (either one or even multiple parties). Looking up at the rock to the right of this crag there are at least two ropes stuck high on the rock.

Anyone have any good stories to tell?
