Thinking of getting some mammut nordwand boot. Looking for some info. Has anyone used them?

Looks interesting - bunno tho for $500+ if I'd trust my boots to have zippers honestly! A zipper breaks when doing a serious climb could be a real problem honestly!

Hmmm.....would love to know if anyone else has had any experience with them tho as well! I def like Mammutt products and have had excellant luck with ALL theur gear - including their single ropes! Love them!

Got a pair this year with hopes to keep my feet a little warmer. So far I have been pretty happy.
A few things about them:

- Not quite as low profile as the LS Batura 2.0, but not too bulky-bout the same as the Scarpa Guide. Unfortunately, I don't have a "Sportiva foot", so no 2.0 for me. The Nordwand has a higher volume toe box and a fairly narrow heel, which fits my US9.5 foot exceptionally well. Had a pair of LS Trango Ice Evo's (yellow) in a 43 that fit very snug, not much for toe room but climbed well. My Nordwands are a 42s(seem to run a tad large) comparatively.

-Boot is made by Raichle, and so far the quality seems very good. I did have an issue with the top lace hook on the ankle of one boot tearing a hole in the inner part of the gaiter after about 6 days out. Contacted Mammut, sent them in and they replaced the pair promptly. Excellent service and so far no issues with new pair.

-As for usablility, they climb very well. They feel lighter than my Kayland M11+s and climb almost as well, though much warmer. My feet run cold, and only at the end of a long work day do my toes start to get cold (I am a firm believer in proper boot fit/not overtightening and wise sock choice determining a boot's overall warmth). Awesome lace system, cinch up quick and the velcro ankle strap makes it easy to keep loose for the approach and crank it down for climbing ice. Zippers are always a concern on multi day climbs- so far this YKK T-Zip type zipper seems burly. I did Nik wax the gaiter, at least around the Mammut stitched logo.

-For crampon fit, the toe welt seems a bit narrow and the boot has a slight asym last. That being said, the Petzl dart/dartwin fits fairly well. Have not tried other crampons.

Here is a review that maybe helpful. Cheers! Review
