Comments: FA in 1976...hmmmmm, I must have oldsheimer's. I could swear that I did it 2 or 3 yrs earlier, and that it was in the '72 High Over Boulder, must be thinking of something else.

I remember doing Friday's Folly on the 3rd and telling my partner how much I liked that vertical jugfest, then I thought he took me to do Alice as the next step in vertical jugs.

I agree Eric, although I think that it might be fist size dependent. BITD I solo'd it and then when caught in a rainstorm after the crux, down climbed it in the rain. But, the crux jam just fit my fist and I was a lot more flexible then (could walk my feet up the crack and stand up with my weight solely on the jam).

Comments: Not Lizard Head I think, stuff to the right of it looks like the Sierras and "Lizard Head" looks like it could be in Patagonia, Yukon, or even Himalayas.

Comments: Hmmm, seems like you'd have to try pretty hard to make it 5.7, I think you could get around those spots pretty easily.

Comments: Don't know what the climbing is like, but I vote this as the best group of route names, as a whole, that I've seen! Or should I say, they're the the Gritised!

Comments: Nice photo, how many times have I seen little clouds, like that one in front, blast around me with lightning when I'm standing in the sun?

Comments: You might check with Jimmy Newberry in Cimarron, I know that he and a number of partners have worked on that thing. I went up there in the late '70s with some partners, and we didn't have a bolt kit. There looked like there might be a line that would go with slinging some of those cobbles, we didn't have the stones to do it. I know Bob Dickerson has been up a couple of routes on it, one with Jimmy, and he said that slinging the cobbles in that volcanic ignimbrite were good, but consider the s... more >>

Comments: Nice! I've camped at the campground across from the face and listened to the rock avalanches all night long. That hike up the Valley of 10,000 waterfalls is one of the most beautiful approaches I know of.

Comments: I was taken up there by a "climber" that I met through my ex wife's work in I think about '81. This guy was pushing 300 lbs easy, and he had me lead some short roof thing on the extreme right side (around the corner) of the second cliff in your picture. It was about a 5.8 or 5.9 roof and pretty short. I don't remember much except the rope burn, kidney punch, and flat spot in my rope I got when he fell on the roof and I had to hold him for what felt like hours (prob. 3 or 4 min.) before he had ... more >>

Comments: I used to have that same helmet, it wasn't too comfortable, used to give me a headache when I wore it too long.
