Comments: If you plan on doing the under cling roof variation on the first pitch be very careful not to get your rope stuck, which I did and had to do some very sketch ball down climbing. Just don't place a piece of gear at the left end of the roof and place a piece a little lower that the roof in the hand crack to the left. The resulting rope drag will suck but it will keep your rope for getting stuck. But very fun pitch with insecure well protected climbing.

Comments: If you are lucky enough to have a perfect weather day, start this climb around 10 or 11 and you will have no trouble with the crowds. Plus, you don't have to wake up early.

Comments: I didn't think the first pitch was too difficult for 5.9 but it was my very first 5.9 lead. I never felt the gear was bad just a little trick to place.

Comments: A very fun but very high. There are positive holds the entire way up but finding them is not as obvious as one might think.

Comments: Finally got back to finishing this thing on aid and now I must say i agree with my initial rating of C2. Definately bring small brass nuts. Now i need to work on freeing it.

Comments: There is a very loose flake right below the second belay. It makes for a great left foot when heading for the belay ledge, but when I stepped on it it flexed about half an inch. I was suprised that it didn't break off. Fortunately there are plenty of other options to use and the climbing is very easy in that section. Have fun on this route and be careful. Peace.

Comments: I have effectively made the 4th pitch as sport climb as I managed to fix a C3 #2 at the base of the splitter crack. Don't get too excited as this thing is very difficult to get out. I worked on it for 30 minutes and made absolutely no progress whatsoever. If you are feeling nice and are able to get it out and want to return it to its owner, my number is 916-601-0712. If you want to keep it feel free as it was my stupid ass that got it fixed in the first place and I deserve to lose it. Than... more >>

Comments: Just wondering how early it is possible to get climbing here. I know Rifle is notorious for seeping walls. Would a trip in Mid March be pushing it or no?

Comments: I did the #2 variation of pitch 3 and thought it was very good. If planning on doing this bring extra thin gear. C3s worked very well for me.

Comments: Be very careful when pulling your rope off of the gully rap. A large rock fell from the gully and almost hit me and my partner. Be careful and have fun up there!

Comments: Protects perfectly and is an amazing route. Because of the perfect pro I would recommend this route to a budding 5.8 leader. Just be careful on the start. I would also recommend doing the entire route in 3 pitches as it saves much time.
