Comments: To Alex et all . Strange there is over 200 climbs on the reef yet it seems everyone jumps on the easiest climb ... I guess it makes them feel good to criticize. The title says its a 1000' feet of fun ...thats all it is . Try some of the other climbs and see if you think there is bit more fun more adventure plus difficulty. Ninety five percent of the climbs over 5.8 have yet to have a second ascent..let alone the 5.11 and 12's Bye the way you can top out if you move across right and join the 1200... more >>

Comments: Correction on first ascents. The South Tower was first ascented by a route first up to the back ridge (via 5 pitches) then the final Tower section by Paul Ross and Paul Gardner (16th Oct 1999).The Route mentioned "Beyond the 80th Meridian" up the South tower came later as alternative pitches... and finished up the tower section of the Ross/Gardner route. The North Tower was first ascented by Paul and Andy Ross ( 1st May 2000)

Comments: I don't think Bob or Mike whats his name should worry about the hordes coming to this area . We have been climbing on the Swell's Eastern Reef for about eight years right next to I.70 . There is now over 190 climbs of all grades and its still VERY rare to see ANY other climbers.Thankfully these days most "climbers" are clustered on the well know sport areas making as much noise as possible.Finding new climbs and climbing them on sight in remote areas is great fun and I think the purest form of r... more >>

Comments: Re checked directions (11th Nov /2011) on the Eastern Reef Slabs and Walls section and added even more details. We never use the Hunting Ranch entrance mentioned below as this may upset the owners. There are as yet no directions in any rock climbing guide book to the Eastern Reef. Use the detailed directions that are already posted on MP.If you cannot follow these.....suggest you might try to find Potash Road, near Moab.
