Comments: I don't think Bob or Mike whats his name should worry about the hordes coming to this area . We have been climbing on the Swell's Eastern Reef for about eight years right next to I.70 . There is now over 190 climbs of all grades and its still VERY rare to see ANY other climbers.Thankfully these days most "climbers" are clustered on the well know sport areas making as much noise as possible.Finding new climbs and climbing them on sight in remote areas is great fun and I think the purest form of r... more >>

Comments: Re checked directions (11th Nov /2011) on the Eastern Reef Slabs and Walls section and added even more details. We never use the Hunting Ranch entrance mentioned below as this may upset the owners. There are as yet no directions in any rock climbing guide book to the Eastern Reef. Use the detailed directions that are already posted on MP.If you cannot follow these.....suggest you might try to find Potash Road, near Moab.

Comments: None of that gear was there in the 1990's. Those items must have been left from the first ascent.Good effort in 75 .... and just getting to the Isle of Hoy itself..

Comments: Sounds well made... but hand drilling for bolts on sandstone other than perhaps Windgate usually produces a hole too large to hold a bolt...solution take baby angles.

Comments: To Even S... Thought your favorite climbs were the scary one's ( re your personal page),if not then best stay away from here! The rock on the Reef sometimes good sometimes not is all part of the experience. As advised in the introduction to the Reef if one decides to climb here on a regular bases carry a small hand drill and a couple of baby angles.(hand drilling on this rock will often produce a hole too large to hold a bolt)So if you get off route or come to belay bolts that have deteriorated ... more >>

Comments: The girls rarely climbed they waited back at camp to have your supper ready.. Of course today sport climbing is something the girlies can do,with or without teeth.

Comments: Good job . I guess it was very dangerous for 1000 pound climbers.
