Comments: Sounds well made... but hand drilling for bolts on sandstone other than perhaps Windgate usually produces a hole too large to hold a bolt...solution take baby angles.

Thought your favorite climbs were the scary one's ( re your personal page),if not then best stay away from here!The rock on the Reef sometimes good sometimes not is all part of the experience.As advised in the introduction to the Reef if one decides to climb here on a regular bases carry a small hand drill and a couple of baby angles.(hand drilling on this rock will often produce a hole too large to hold a bolt)So if you get off route or come to belay bolts that have deteriorated ... more >>

Comments: A note from Mike Binnie UK. My wife,Carol,godfather Geoffrey Gathorne had a foot shot off in the Boer War (about 1898?)told me once how he climbed Kern Knotts crack with a false foot.He was the middle man of three. Somewhere on the climb that foot got stuck in the crack.He could not budge it. So the leader called down "Take your foot off and number three can unwedge it for you and bring it up".Which is what happened.He must have been almost up the climb,somehow joined his leader,number three br... more >>

Comments: At the moment best to use the entrance to the slabs from the Hanksville Road, as due to storms the I.7O entrance is in poor condition. From Hanksville Rt 24 I.70 exit drive 7 miles to just past mile marker 153 to dirt road on right. Follow this for about 4 miles to road marker on left ,the road to Three Finger Canyon.

Comments: At the moment due to all the storms the entrance to the slabs from I.70 is not in good condition . Best to enter via the Hanksville road Rt 24. From the exit from I.70 go 7 miles just past mile marker 153 to dirt road on right. Follow this for about 4 miles to the Three Finger turn off on the left.
