Comments: On the FA we used 60m ropes. Well this is slab climbing the world over be it be Whitehorse ledge in NH or the Glacier Point Apron slabs in Yosemite they are runout, that's what makes slab climbing interesting as the grade is often not that high.I guess more so in Utah and Colorado crack climbing and sport with lots of protection is more the norm.So until you get more familiar with this type of climbing it will feel a little freaky .

Comments: Yes myself and Julia Blake thrashed to this then unclimbed slab sometime in 1975. Put up a route what I though the most prominent looking section .The slab had many dragon fly's zipping about ..thus the name .That's about all I remember.I never returned as in those days I considered such a crag was not worth the hike....[bushwhacking from the Kanc. Comments: I think perhaps you should next try the Faith Hope and Clarity /Sinister Slab area . After the first two pitches you will hit some of the best of the slab rock and pretty good pro.Your right it takes awhile to get used to this type of climbing ...and it does gets easier as time goes on . Stick at it. Back from the UK for a couple of weeks ....sun in the Swell ..I hope

Comments: As always thanks for your comments . We were a bit disappointed with this climb as we though the ridge continued to the far summits .. It was there so we went up it .. However as you you found there are not many of the routes in this area that will disappoint as far as an adventure !

Comments: Thanks for your comments on this climb. I have a feeling that this sandstone rock is still on the move... lets say after winter storms ?. I have noticed when the odd times I did a repeat ascent a year or two later on one of the slab climbs that there was some loose rock that I would have thought we would have had to removed on the FA. Its a thought ! . Anyway most of these climbs have had very few ascents I suspect yours was only the second ascent. Like all climbs more ascents should improve t... more >>

Comments: Fun shot.. In the 1950's in the wet UK it was common practice for us kids to climb in our WOOL socks in the rain. One could use just socks or pull a pair over your gym shoes.. however over shoes they tended to wear out faster!. . When guiding on Whitehorse Ledge slabs in NH in the 70' and 80's caught out in rain I used to get the clients to remove their shoes and climb in their socks. Wool socks and to some extent cotton work on wet rock remarkably well .. try it sometime
