Comments: Holy crap: MP.com photos are now in my dreams. . . had a dream of this very toad last night. Too funny. And you may be right, GriGri - it's one or the other, and does seem to lean toward spadefoot a bit more.

Comments: This is a stout 5.10 (crack), and a damn-freaky and very poorly protected "traverse" around the north before the easy summit push. And not to forget the south side traverse. . . . Lots of exposure available on this route! A great route and lots of fun, but I'm glad my heady partner had the PG13 traverse on pitch 4 (north side).

Comments: Good stuff, and great views toward the Fishers. A little chossy/sketchy for the 3rd pitch step-across and finish. 1st pitch great, 2nd pitch really good. 3 stars. Sustained 5.14c VS R X + PG13!

Comments: Fair and fun enough at 5.6 - with OK gear for the 5.6 leader. I'm curious what the line to the left is (has a single bolt above a finger crack). . . just right of the chimney. It has a few bolts and some rap anchors. Thanks

Comments: Well done, goatboy - thanks for the effort. The northern triangle of land (between tower and river), is privately owned. However, the bridge is public, as are the parking areas just adjacent to it. Crossing the river or the bridge (basically anywhere directly west of the formation) should be fully legal.

Comments: The approach (35 steep minutes) is worth it. . . beautiful rock with great climbs in a perfect setting. If I weren't so damned lazy, I'd go back this weekend.

Comments: bob - I think you need to change all of the climbs to show "sport", rather than "trad" in the title/info. I'll head in late spring for my Granite's fix, and should have time to check out some of your new slabbies.

Comments: Todd - If you're ref. to the massive boulder with the big splitter that goes thru a roof at its bottom (Cranium Capacity, 10b), then it certainly has been climbed before, and is in a guide. . . . I believe Bernard (Rock Climbing St. Vrain Canyons guide) says it goes at 5.10+, although it seemed a bit harder to me. There's a few short routes or high boulder problems on this rock. Sorry Toddy. . . .

Comments: Isn't that on the North St. Vrain? Looks like it, and if so, does have some exisitng climbs on it. They are mentioned in Bernard Gillet's new St Vrain climbers guide ("Gateway of the Narrows" is the rock). Cheers!
