Comments: The rap requires 2 60M ropes. (A third rope is to be used for the climb itself.) There are a few healthy pines nearly directly across from the spire that can be slung. The guidebook indicates an anchor right in line with the rap where passing the knot is to be accomplished; we didn't find it. Perhaps we were a little too far right. We used some 1"-2" gear to rig an anchor nonetheless.

Once at the notch, the follower should tag line the ropes used for the rap, checking occasiona... more >>

Comments: The top was sans belay/rap bolts recently. We slung a chockstone down and left from the summit.

Comments: Splendiferous! Another must-do in my book. Worth the hike in, nice sun exposure, overall I was a happy camper. When I think of fun days, I think of that time with Mindy getting lost in San Fran and the day I climbed this route.

Comments: I'll tell you why it's a classic. I'm too lazy to describe all the details, but it just is. A random snow flurry and the best campfire sing-along EVER had somethng to do with it though.

Comments: Runouts? What runouts? Oh wait, I didn't lead it... but just imagining leading it made me have to run out to the garage to chalk up. Must be a solid 5.10 leader, but a definite must-do. I remember doing it the day Pearl Jam's "Ten" came out. We wore that CD out. Actually, I think I has humming "Garden" while belaying. Glad you asked.

Comments: Super fun, if you're into thin steep edges. Great photo ops if your cameraperson hikes up to the right of the rock, it gives an expansive look of the whole Sheep's Pass area. A little bummed that there wasn't actually an oyster bar (or a regular bar even) up there; a guy can get pretty thirsty hiking up that far...

Comments: My first bolted lead, holds a special place in my heart. (I told myself I wouldn't cry...) Not really worth the star I gave it, but they didn't have the "Sentimental Rating" option. A good, safe first lead for some, perhaps?

Comments: Fun & short, perhaps a good "post-lunch-my-stomach-is-still-swimming-with-chips-and-salsa-goodness" route. Anything longer or more sustained would have been a sure-fire vomit-elucidator. Instead it was just a tasty burp (Trader Joe's salsa is soooo good!) upon topping out. Practice your right hand pinch.

Comments: Solid line, I remember that the sustained nature of it was the crux for me. I'm a skinny out of shape schmuck though, so if you're able to type a sentence on your keyboard without getting pumped (I just had to shake out), the move near the bolt is probably the technical crux.
