Comments: I found an Espeldi Guide at the base of the wall. You can find your missing guide book in a rock cairn beneath a shelf of rock at the base of the Macabre Roof route.

Comments: Happy to hear there was a good ending to your story and only taking away from the mishap a lesson to knot the ends of your rope.

Comments: I agree with the previous comments regarding the fine development of routes in the canyon. I've been living in Alaska for the past 3 yrs and have admired many of the lines from afar. Upon returning to the lower 48 Rock Canyon will be one of my destinations! Thanks to the Utah Valley crews.

Comments: The anchor has two bolts with rap rings off set, one on top of the other; the bolt on top is flexing and could pose problems in the near future. There is pro near the anchors so you could back up your system if there was any doubt. I'll try to re-bolt the anchors this summer but if I don't the bolt should be replaced soon. Climb safe~

Comments: Did this route a few years ago and despite the offwidth nature of the route I had a great time. Excellent positions and exposure on the final pitch. I dropped my helmet at the top and watched it roll into the abyss so if you find a red Edelrid consider it a gift. I also thought this climb was a great experience- get on it!

Comments: I agree with Steve's assessment of this climb. It is runout, the protection was marginal and there are some gritty sections covered in black lichen. Nevertheless, I tended to enjoy the route for its' 'mountaineering' type feel; there are some positions of exposure and some committing moves over runout and poorly protected terrain. I continued to the top of the climb past the aforementioned horn like pinnacle about 20-25 ft from the top. Do not let the rating fool you, this is a climb t... more >>

Comments: The accident did occur at the Penitentiary Wall just after noon on 05.26.06. Two parties, myself and my wife climbing Climb and Punishment, and my friend and his girlfriend climbing Tax Evasion. We were climbing simultaneously so I did not witness the fall, but I did hear the accident. He was climbing about 10-15 feet above his last piece of pro when his feet came off the rock and he fell to the lower ledges below. Using our placed gear as anchors I was able to lower to him and stabilize him whi... more >>

Comments: I left two pieces in the bottom of the crack; one nut and #0 power cam with a draw. I left them due to a climbing accident that occured there with a buddy of mine on 05.26.06; I was unable to retrieve them at the time and would appreciate it greatly if someone finds them before I can get back, that they contact me and I'll take them out to dinner or something for their generosity. More to come on the climbing accident in the days to follow.

Comments: Descent can also be made (60 m rope) by rappeling from "big dead belay tree" (@ the end of the 5th pitch) directly to the schoolroom rappel (the top chains of Chicken Rodeo route).
