Comments: I did that for our own protection, Ben. We can't just be showing Erik's face all willy-nilly if we want to keep our women around! Remember in The Odyssey, when Odysseus lashes himself to the mast so he can hear the siren's song? I think you know where I'm headed with this....

Comments: Skylar, I did this problem at the beginning of April by starting with both hands on the original left hand start hold. Erik Durgin also made mention of sending this and Under the Seaman a few weeks prior, using much different beta. There seems to be a bit of hollowness to the start hold mentioned above, and it is a bit unnerving to pull on it so hard at the start of the problem, though the problem is better overall. As for a grade, it's probably just a shade harder than it originally was.

Comments: When you have your hands established on the slopers of the headwall, there is a small, right foot chip that you use to smear your right knee under a small belly of rock. One of the pictures shows me using the foothold, just after removing the kneebar. Duct tape is compulsory, because you have to press and pull on it quite a bit. Good luck, let me know how it goes!

Comments: I'm assuming that the comment on the photo is a jab at the new paved parking lot between SC and BOtB walls. I'm not crazy about having to see changes, but they are inevitable and recognizing this as a good and calculated move to help preserve access helps ease the discomfort. I think we all just want an area to be preserved in the state we fell in love with it in, like when we fall in love with a woman. But we just need to remember that a lot of people fall in love with that same woman, and i... more >>

Comments: Chris, rebolting this route would be great. Someone is going to get hurt with the current equipment. I have seen one or two people go right at the 4th bolt, but it certainly isn't the natural line of weakness. Thanks in advance!!

Comments: Good thing my butt ain't much bigger! I took this picture timed with a crappy point and shoot and it took a bunch of takes to get the timing right. I think there is a large part of the Truckee population that has seen me completely nude... while sober.

Comments: I'm not sure if the boulder dudes are serious or not. Creeping on their photos for a while only produced pictures of climbing in far away areas (Indian Creek is 7? hours from boulder) and the greasy traverse in boulder notorious for getting smeared with poo poo from time to time. If that's what you're referring to as 'way, way better'...

On the positive side... I stumbled upon this park with my friend about 6 or 7 years ago and it seemed quite nice. It was very peaceful.

Comments: Yeah, that is odd. I'm surprised that, for being able to produce such an elegant looking hanger, they didn't think of how brittle it would be.

Comments: I would be hesitant to call this an easier version of Ruby's since it bears little resemblance to that route other than length. Cool route though.
