More information:
School is back in session, and unfortunately, I'm pretty dedicated to making sure my students actually learn something. So for the winter: it's weekends and holidays for me. Luckily, this is Colorado, where snow today means Nothing about climbing conditions tomorrow! I'm looking forward to climbing. Or hiking. Or back country skiing (I'm not very good at all). Would love to do some ice this winter or a couple easy winter ascents. Outdoors is a fine, fine place to be any time of year.

As we came off Walt's Wall, we saw Craig (Luebben) and Dave (uh-oh...) with a class at the base. They had been rained on, as well, and lay out their ropes to dry. The sinuous ropes on the rock made cool patterns.  Rob Kelman, walking back to the bolts at the top of Walt's Wall. Because of the wet rock, we did rope up for the section.  The view from the base of Hassler's Hatbox Route--beautiful clouds, beautiful place.  A perfect belay spot.  On this beautiful day, the Bastille reminded me of an anthill. Because it's in the shade most of the day, the North Face attracts a lot of climbers on a hot day.
