Comments: Nice work Kurt! Looks sick! Climb in a style that you feel is proper and let others expand on that in their own way.

Proud effort on what looks like an extremely high quality route.

Comments: You can also find the problem called ObZen that's right off the trail and walk into the talus just past that, slightly past a large pine tree. It's maybe 50-100 feet into the talus and slightly downhill from that position. The boulder itself faces downhill and it's in a cluster of fairly large boulders. Hope that helps.

Comments: Bit of clarification! Bottom portion of the problem is sandstone, upper half is quartzite. Actually a perfect example of what you're talking about though as you can see the transition of the two in the rail.

Comments: 2 things about this area.

1 - Rhoads, you should change the name of this spot to "Fire Rhoad Bluff". Just seems better than Cliff Band North of Fire Road.

2 - This area doesn't see a ton of sun so it can tend to stay wet a little longer than other areas. As a result it still has some loose holds so climb softly and pay attention.

I'm also assuming that most of these have been done previously by Paul or Pete De Salvo. If anyone knows proper names then just let me know and I'll happily cha... more >>

Comments: I broke a couple of holds while doing this so take care if you get on it. It climbs very well but is a touch heady.

Comments: Would be curious to hear what beta you used. Personally I could see it dropping to a 6 as it's pretty comparable to Jenga and Massive. Felt slightly easier than Weasel, Tunder or White Knight I guess.

Comments: For what it's worth, I don't think that hiking up through the talus will be the fastest way to get to the 45. Though it would take you past a number of excellent problems. Hiking on the West Bluff trail that takes you to the top of the bluff will be the quickest and easiest way to get to the 45 and the fire road problems. My guess is that it'd take 10-15 minutes, though it has been a while since I've taken that route.

Comments: Well, you/he should post what he did so that people know its been done. As far as I know it was still a project but there are a handful of people that don't post new problems here on a regular basis. MP is all about sharing info so the more information we have the better the database will be!

Either way, I'm glad to see this has been sent in some form!!

Comments: There is now a "no parking" sign at the fire road entrance. Best place to park now looks like down by the boat launch on the South Shore. Chris, can you update the description?

Comments: Finished this one up last night. Very fun problem and worth trying along with Bulbous. Credit to Ian for figuring out the sequence as I know a number of people tried this without success prior to him doing it.

As for the grade, on point with other V8's at the lake. Certainly not as hard as Alpine Club or Fearful Symmetry and harder than Fat pants, Tunder Tighs and Power Bottom. Felt slightly harder/lower percentage than bulbous.

Comments: This one had some chalk on it so I figured I'd post it and see if its been done or not. Guessing the chalk is from this past spring or fall but it looked like it'd be really hard and very good. Lots of other potential in the area but you'd need a number of pads for most of it.

Comments: We were able to comfortably do this with 3 standard pads and 3 big pads. It's definitely worth the extra effort of hauling the pads up there. Such a stunning line!

Comments: You're thinking of the right boulder but I have no clue what we had called it. All I remember is that we fixed up the landing and then none of us could find it again!
