Comments: I'm looking at spending several days at HCR in November of this year. What are my odds of finding a group to climb with during the week days?

Hit the left crimp > Lock in the left toe hook > Then go with the right hand to the corner. With the left hand still on the side crimp, you can cut feet w/o the swing. When steady, you can bring the left hand to match on the corner.

Comments: @ Ryan, it sounds like you were on Micro Gulley.

I'll try and give a little clarification. There are 3 popular routes right in this area. When facing the cliff at the bottom, from left to right you have Mickey's Mantle, Micro Gulley, and Boobs.

There is a shallow low angle dihedral at the bottom left side. Mickey's Mantle starts to the right of the corner in the big horizontals and goes almost straight up. The start is a very bouldery move, then a jug haul to the thin crux at the top. Some sho... more >>

Comments: I know grades only matter to a certain degree, but I thought this was harder than 10a. I thought this was the hardest line on the new section, and more difficult than 'Unknown 8' which is on here at 10b/c. Also there's a white shape in the rock that looks like the southern border of texas.

Comments: This is the one that has the white section of rock down low that looks like the bottom of Texas. I thought it was a good bit harder than 10a. I thought the crux was on par with Misty. Just my $0.02.

Comments: I started about 7 or 8ft Right of the person in the pic, and went straight up through the crack to where he is.

Comments: If you start on the left side of the corner/dihedral and then move up and right on to the face I'd call it a 9. But if you make the direct start straight on to the face with the heel hook or campus, then I'd say it's a 10 when combined with the upper crux. Just my opinion.

Comments: When walking from the Sandtrap towards Larry/Moe/Curly there is a small trail that goes down hill to the right. It almost looks like water runoff. Take the right then the trail forks and go left. There's a 40 foot face that has five routes with anchors. From left to right they are probably 7/8?..7..6..9..11-. I only climbed the first 7/8,6, and 9. Some guys were working the harder route and said it was 11b.

It's a great spot for some first sport leads. The routes are short, well protected, clos... more >>
