Comments: Excellent route. Fun, varied movement with some exceptional stemming, and of course the awesome roof pull. I think the only real detractor is the (admittedly welcomed) no-hands on a small ledge before heading into the roof. Perhaps more solid at the grade than some other waterfall 12- offerings

Comments: Fun line. Did not feel contrived even with it's proximity to S&M. Bring your best pinkies, and get ready climb above small gear.

Comments: Lou, way to be... incredibly sexist. Why alienate women from the climbing world? Maybe you don't even realize that you're doing it, but by implying that having "tampex" (I assume you mean tampax) in your climbing pack makes you a wuss (my interpretation of your comment), you are not insulting the person your jab was aimed at but instead you are insulting ALL WOMEN (the people who might actually have "tampex" in their pack). Not especially surprising from someone who says things like "man up for ... more >>

Comments: Definitely goes free. Not sure where the rumor started that this was awaiting a free ascent. I'm sure plenty of folks have onsighted this route. A fun and worthwhile adventure.

Comments: The nut on the first bolt had come undone quite a bit this past week, more off than on. We hand tightened but didn't have a wrench with us.

Comments: I only did the first pitch, so I will refrain from officially rating this one, but keeping in mind quality of movement, stone, and position, I found the first pitch of this to be of similar quality as its neighbor, Doom Book. 3 stars seems fair to me, as does 5.11b.

Comments: This is definitely a fun route, although to me it falls nowhere near the posted grade of 5.12+. I can see how this route would be harder for shorter climbers, but I'm still skeptical that it would reach 12+ with the proper beta.

I too topped this route out via the left arete, which felt very natural for me, following the path of least resistance. To traverse over and hang from the lip in order to clip the chains seems as though it would be a bit contrived. Using the topout method, the anchors s... more >>

Comments: In my experience the state of the first good handjam on this route serves as a good indicator of the humidity you'll encounter on Spiderfly

Comments: In my opinion, this thing comes close to rivaling Crime of the Century in terms of quality. Spiderfly is consistently difficult with interesting movement. Its only shortcoming as far as I'm concerned is its "modest" length.

One must befriend the frog that resides in the first good lock if they wish to be granted safe passage. Only then can one become the Spiderfly...

Comments: This is a great route. I found it more fun than its neighbor "20 min workout"
