Comments: Climbed this last weekend...

So we hiked up thurs. after the drive from San Diego with all of our gear to dial the approach, then we set up a 2 man tent and left all of our gear and water off of the trail near the start of pitch 1... We came back fri. morning grabbed our gear and water and started pitch 1... The approach took about 1.5hrs with a 60lb pack
-Used a 70m rope...

Pitch(1&2) 1= (sexy)5.7+: medium cams 200+ ft,the cresent crack that leans left, hand/fist jams with left foot on face ... more >>

Comments: Also agree its not an "R" rated fall.

Climbed this yesterday... Only used 1 cam the rest were hexes, nuts, and tri-cams medium/small sizes. Took the Roan variation finish which was fun and not as horrible as everyone says, a little spicy in a couple spots but not terrible.

60m rope was needed for Roan finish
used either a .5 or .75 about 12ft off of the bolted belay on pitch 2

I think I took another variation on Roan way at the very top I took the crack on the right instead of finishing st... more >>

Comments: Trying to apply the beta while looking at this massive rock formation can be difficult... especially the last pitch which I will try to explain...

P1- if you can do the 5.8 variation 40ft right from the "start" its not too hard if you keep moving but definitely harder than the 5.7, its the obvious crack that leads right up to a big rock that you come out on and stem ... once above the 13ft big rock section on your right you will see another obvious upward and right traversing crack (this crack ... more >>

Comments: Stay true to the route ( no side climbing, no early top out). It felt like a 5.9- during the traverse followed by the up climb. I think this climb is a little easier for taller people :D

Comments: I can't fathom why this is a 4 star rating... It feels like a gym climb, the beta is revealed just by looking at it since its a "chipped" route. Very pumpy like a gym, ok moves but deep holds like a 5.8 or 5.9. I guess this would be like an indoor 5.10a. Very different for an outdoor climb.

Comments: I give it a 5.10b because no matter how many times I climb it (as the boulder problem it should be), it doesn't get eaiser, always cussing at it and having to get my hands in it a couple of times before I can commit to the send up top... Ugh, awesome climb!

Comments: Great climb! I think I will try to solo it next try. #.3-#2 BD C4's If I remember correctly... You can walk off the back but if you set up a top rope I reccomend bringing a med sized hex to slot through the boulders in the back, run a sling or two to the position you want. Worked perfect for me and my partner. Really nice climbing.

Comments: I very possibly over-starred, over-rated the climb and under-rated the protection but, for me, this was pushing my level of climbing and was such an amazing climb! On sighted it and just put any consequence of falling out of my head and just climbed! The crux is great especially 12ft above your last bolt!!!

P1: 5.8 ( with a traverse) Left facing dihedral small nut placements, traverse up and to the left x3 bolts. up and right 1 bolt then straight up to first belay.

P2: 5.9+ Crux pitch kinda of... more >>
