Comments: This is a really nice place to climb with children and new climbers. There are several unintimidating, well bolted, easier routes that are nice for a new leader to get comfortable on.

The approach is very short (2 minutes with a 4 year old) and the base is flat. There is a picnic table and a couple benches.

This is not a big area (under 30 routes), but it is a nice place to spend the day.

Comments: I would add to the gear list a bunch (6-8) of slings from 7mm cord. We used these for threadthroughs and to girth hitch a few pins that would not take a biner.

Steller route!

Unfortunatly only in German.

I don't have a lot of experiance with Basalt (having only climbed here and down the road in Kottenheim), however, it is pretty good I think. The rock on the gear routes generally seem solid and the fixed gear is good. The only issue I have it the use of single bolt anchors... maybe that is just me.

There is a guild book, but it is only in German as well (despite the claim on the cover!!). There i... more >>

Comments: I'll agree with saxfiend. Go up to the top of the crack. A lot more fun.

I though it was a little run out after getting away from the crack, but on very easy ground

Comments: P4 is a little runout, but easy climbing. P2 and P3 can be linked if you are very careful about rope drag and don't put any pro in on the 5.3 P3.

This is one of my favorite climbs. Awesome climb to take a new climber on. Not too exposed, great gear, fun moves, beautiful views!
