Comments: Beck's road is closed for construction, which is expected to last until September 2012. I approached via car from the west (from Interstate 35), and the closest I could get to the climbing parking lot was West Skyline Parkway. We parked on Skyline and gained the trail that goes to the crag. Guessing it was an extra 1.5 miles of walking. I'm not sure how close you can get to the parking lot approaching from the East on Beck's.

Comments: This was my first climb/lead in the Gunks and it was a great introduction!
Some people have mentioned that it can be hard to hear your second at the top of the route and recommended extending your belay to the edge. We had some mild wind, probably around 10 mph, and I couldn't hear my second from the edge at all while he was below the roof. Only after lowering myself about 20 feet down the face of the last pitch were we able to communicate.

Comments: I agree this route is leadable. I started on the right side of the column. Good cam placement and a solid chock to sling halfway up.

Comments: First bolt is a bit high for comfort, but the stances are pretty solid. The second bolt didn't seem like much of a runout.

Comments: A little tough for a beginner leader. Many places to put a #3 camalot.
